Movie Recommendation: The Hunt

Today's movie recommendation is a really great film out of Denmark titled The Hunt.  It's up for Best Foreign Language Film this year at the Oscars too, so don't just take my word for it...this film is REALLY GOOD!

Plot Summary from IMDB:
A teacher lives a lonely life, all the while struggling over his son's custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his new luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie.

I came across this movie while browsing works by Mads Mikkelsen on IMDB.  Mads is on my favorite actors list, which you can see here if you missed it!  I get really excited when I find out that one of my favorites is coming out with something new, and after reading the story-line for this one...I was hooked.  Then I watched the trailer on YouTube...and I was REALLY hooked!  As soon as I could, I make a trip to the nearest Movie Trading Co to see if they had it in stock...and they did!  Yessssss!

First off, I want to take a tiny moment to acknowledge Annika Wedderkopp's performance as Klara in the film.  I am always completely blown away by child actors who can gracefully pull through a movie full of such difficult subject matter as this one.  She did an AMAZING job and her character was SO believable!

Okay so now on to WHY I loved this film so much.  The story-line is what initially pulled me in.  Everything is seemingly going well for the lead character, Lucas, until one of his students accuses him of sexual abuse.  I won't give anything away, except that in my opinion...the way the situation was handled from the start was terribly wrong.  If you watch it (which I think you should!!!  Do it now!!!), you'll see what I mean.  It was frustrating to say the least.  Aside from the frustration, it really pulled me into the story and I just wanted to jump in there and do something to help.  It would be a lie if I told you you wouldn't be squirming in your seat and yelling things at your TV/computer screen haha!  You probably will.

Aside from the story-line and the fact that I love the two main characters of the film, I really enjoyed the cinematography, music, and shooting locations. Absolutely beautiful.

Oh and guess what!  It's available on Netflix!!!

If you do decide to watch it, I'd love to know your thoughts on it!
